History:Established May 17th 1975 by Decree No2/75, to take over the activities in Mozambique of
Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU).
Under decree No3/92 of February 25th 1992 Banco Comercial de Moçambique SARL was created to
take over all commercial banking activities formerly undertaken by the Central Bank.
The nature, scope, objectives and functions of the Banco de Moçambique as Central Bank were
defined by the Law No1/92 of January 3rd 1992.
